A Massachusetts man is dead following a Friday afternoon crash near mile marker 145 on the I-95 near Pittsfield.

According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, the Maine State Police received a call about a single vehicle crash on the northbound side of I-95  just before 4 PM on Friday afternoon.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of emergency responders, the driver, 21 year old Ralph Desrosiers, of Wilmington, Massachusetts, succumbed to his injuries.

The press release says, in part:

Upon investigation, Troopers were able to determine that the vehicle was traveling north in the right lane when the operator lost control and went off the left side of the roadway.  The vehicle crashed into a large tree where it came to rest in the median. The initial investigation suggests that unsafe speed was a possible contributor to the crash.

If you witness the vehicle traveling on I-95 or saw the crash happened, please call the Maine State Police at 207.624.7076.  Ask to speak with Trooper Tyler Maloon or Sergeant Peter Michaud.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those involved in the crash.

The Maine State Police were assisted by the Clinton Police, Northern Light Ambulance, Blanchard’s Towing, Pittsfield Fire Dept. and Clinton Fire Department.
