According to News Center Maine, authorities responded to calls around 8:30 PM last night (7-30-2020) about a fight happening in the parking lot at the McDonald's on Center Street in Auburn.

When authorities arrived several people had already fled the scene in a vehicle prior to the police arriving. Upon their arrival at the scene officials located one man in his early twenties who had been critically injured in the altercation. He was transferred to Maine Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

At last check, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit was still on hand and crime scene tape was wrapped around the area as detectives attempt to put the pieces together of exactly what happened during last night's altercation.

Authorities have said that they don't believe there is an immediate threat to the public as this appears to have been a targeted incident. An autopsy will be done on the victim later today at the office of the Chief Medical Examiner later today in Augusta.

The identity of the man that was killed is currently being withheld pending notification of his family members.
