According to Maine Public Safety Spokeswoman, Shannon Moss, after a multi-month investigation, Maine drug agents were able to successfully take possession of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of the deadly drug, fentanyl on Thursday, September 1st.

Moss stated that that Maine Drug Enforcement Agents, along with assistance from the Maine State Police Tactical Team, executed a search warrant at a home located on Dexter Road in the town of Cambridge, Maine. (The Maine Department of Public Safety considers this region part of Central Maine)

Moss said that the warrant, along with a vehicle search that had happened earlier the same day, was a direct result of what agents called a 'large amount' of fentanyl having been brought into the state and distributed for sale through multiple counties including Washington, Hancock, Somerset and Penobscot.

Moss said that the amount of fentanyl seized was nearly four pounds worth and is valued at more than $250,000.00 on the streets. Additionally, police seized about $13,000 in drug proceed cash.

The following information was provided to by the Maine Department of Public Safety regarding arrests and the charges against the apprehended suspects.

Arrested following the traffic stop on Route 1A in Ellsworth at approximately 3:30 p.m. were:

Mark Jordan (31) of Milbridge, Maine. Charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl) This charge was aggravated due to the amount of Fentanyl seized.

Peggy Lou Strout (66) of Gouldsboro, Maine. Charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl) This charge was aggravated due to the amount of Fentanyl seized.

 Arrested following the search of the Cambridge residence were:

Dalvin Jose Peguero (22) of the Dominican Republic and Lawrence, Mass. Charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl) This charge was aggravated due to the amount of Fentanyl seized.

Yonaury Arias- De Jesus- (25) of the Dominican Republic and Lawrence, Mass. Charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl) This charge was aggravated due to the amount of Fentanyl seized.

Cambridge, Maine

As the result of a month’s long investigation, agents assigned to Maine Drug Enforcement’s North Central Task Force have arrested four people and seized a significant amount of suspected fentanyl.

 

On Thursday, September 1, 2022, MDEA agents, assisted by the Maine State Police Tactical Team, executed a search warrant on a residence located on Dexter Road in Cambridge. This search warrant, along with a seizure made during a vehicle stop earlier this day, was the result of an MDEA investigation related to the sale of large amounts of Fentanyl brought into the State of Maine and distributed throughout Somerset, Penobscot, Hancock and Washington Counties.

 

Seized during this investigation was approximately 3.75 pounds of suspected fentanyl along with approximately $13,000 in suspected drug proceeds. Of the total Fentanyl seized as part of this case, over 1500 grams (3 pounds) was located at the Cambridge residence, along with over $13,000 in suspected drug proceeds. The remaining 220 grams was located inside the car stopped earlier in the day. The street value of 3.75 pounds of fentanyl is $255,000.

Following their arrests, Jordan and Strout were transported to the Hancock County jail for booking. Both Pequero and De Jesus were taken to the Somerset County Jail for booking.

 

Those arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

 

Assisting MDEA in this investigation was the Maine State Police, Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI.) This investigation is continuing, and more arrests are likely.
