According to a post on the Maine State Police Facebook page, they are seeking the public's help in solving a nearly three decades old cold case.

The post explains that, on January 16th, 1993, 73 year old Maxine Bitomski was murdered in her Kittery, Maine home.

According to the Criminal Journal, she had been seen alive by her granddaughter on the evening of January 15th.  Her grandson found her, deceased, the next morning.

Initially, police knew there was something suspicious  about her passing.  An autopsy eventually confirmed that the manner of her death was homicide.  However, based on what we have found for information, her cause of death was never revealed.

After it was determined that she had been murdered, local police questioned friends and family members, but no one was ever arrested or charged in connection with the crime.

The Maine State Police post explains:

Maxine Bitomski was 73 years old when she was murdered inside her home on Colonial road in Kittery on January 16, 1993. Her granddaughter had visited with her the day before and spoke to her by phone later that same evening. Another relative found Maxine’s body the following day.

Bitomski had lived in her Kittery home for four decades.  For the first three decades, she lived there with her family.  She lived alone following the passing of her husband in the early 1980s.
