Most often seniors find it easier to age with grace in the comfort of their own homes surrounded by pets, neighbors and friends. However, there comes a time when our elderly loves ones may need help at home with their daily activities.

Generally, this isn’t something that we tend to think about or even want to discuss. Sometimes it may be overlooked that your loved one could use support with their day to day needs.

Some of the signs to watch for are frequent falls, decline in personal hygiene (not bathing or washing hair, lack of doing laundry, not changing clothing or bedding for long periods of time), weight loss, forgetting to take medications or forgetting simple tasks that can be dangerous to their health or environment. These signs can help aid you in conversations about seeking resources they may need.

The key to successful aging with grace at home is to be prepared and recognizing these signs before there is a crisis.
