A Portland man is dead following a Saturday afternoon accident on the Kennebec River.

According to WABI TV, 40 year old Truc Huynh and a friend were fishing on the Kennebec River near Sapling Township.

The TV station reports that the raft they were on hit a rough patch and Truc Huynh went into the water.  He never resurfaced.  He was not wearing a life vest.

His friend, who reportedly was wearing a life vest, made it to shore and called for help.  First responders recovered his body at about 4:30 on Saturday afternoon.

This tragedy should serve as a reminder that we need to take proper precautions while enjoying Maine's lakes, ponds, and rivers.  Never go alone, always wear proper safety equipment, etc.

Our thoughts go out to the friends and family of the deceased.

9 Closed Maine Amusement & Water Parks

We have put together a list of now closed amusement parks and water parks. Some of these were in operation in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s... Some haven't been around for over a century. ***Keep in mind that some of the information regarding when these places were open and what they offered comes from listener comments and stories passed down by people who visited (or worked at) these parks.
