According to WGME 13, a 31-year-old Maine man was arrested Saturday morning after reports he was harassing volunteers and pretending to be a police officer.

Saturday morning, Cumberland County Sheriff's Deputies were called in to investigate a situation on Intervale Raod in New Gloucester. Reports indicated that volunteers were on hand cleaning athletic fields in the vicinity of Memorial School.

While the volunteers were working, a man riding a motorcycle was operating around the field displaying a badge to volunteers and claiming he was a police officer. That's when people on the field called the police, WGME reports.

By the time police responded to the scene, the suspect had already fled. However it didn't take long for deputies and a Maine State Trooper to locate the suspect. He had ridden into the woods and gotten stuck in the mud, the news station reports.

Police took 31-year-old, Brian Lavigne of New Gloucester into custody after locating him in the woods. Lavigne was charged with terrorizing, impersonating a public servant and violating conditions of release, WGME reported.

WGME also reported that Lavigne was already on four sets of bail conditions for other charges. He's currently held at the Cumberland County Jail on no bail.

We'll continue to keep this story updated as more information becomes available.
