In an update to a story we brought you yesterday, Gardiner Regional Middle School has made the decision to switch to remote learning.

The school has been battling both a staff shortage and a large portion (25%) of the entire student boy being in quarantine.

Though they've made the switch to remote learning, it is expected to only be a temporary move.

According to Superintendent, Patricia Hopkins, the plan is to be back to in-school learning by Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Our original story follows below.

According to WMTW News 8, Gardiner Middle School will be closed today, Monday, November 15th, due to a lack of staff and more than 25% of all students being in quarantine.

In a letter that went out to parents Sunday night from Superintendent, Patricia Hopkins,

“Tomorrow we will assess our ability to continue providing in-person instruction or whether the building will need to operate in “Red” (or remotely) for a period of time. On numerous occasions, students have come to school when they are sick. Respectfully, if your child displays any of the following symptoms, please keep them home from school and call your health care provider to discuss testing options,”

On Monday leaders in the district are going to meet and discuss the possibility of switching the school to a temporary remote learning model given the current staff shortage and student-body quarantine situation.

We will keep this story updated as more information becomes available.
