On Thursday, April 18th the city of Augusta was hit with a computer virus which froze the city's computer network according to Central Maine News.

The virus caused Augusta City Center to close and is still closed today, April 19th. They plan to reopen on Monday.

It does not appear that any personal information was taken and there is no threat to public safety despite the virus infecting computers used by public safety dispatchers.

The Augusta Civic Center has also been impacted and is unable to use their credit card machine and patrons will not have access to the ATM located in the lobby. With the annual arrival of The Kora Shrine Circus with multiple shows throughout the weekend, the Augusta Civic Center took to Facebook to encourage guests to bring cash with them for tickets and concessions.
