The State of Maine could owe you cash!
According to the Bangor Daily News, 300,000 Maine homeowners could be getting checks for just over $100 early next year.
You can expect a check if you qualified for the “homestead exemption” in 2019. The exemption lowers the home’s taxable value by $20,000. So, if you’re house is worth $100,000, you’d only be taxed as though it were worth $80,000. Only your primary residence qualifies for the exemption.
If you are eligible, you can expect a check be January or February of 2020.
