According to WABI TV 5, the Food and Drug Administration along with the Centers for Disease Control are recommending a 'pause' in the administering of the popular Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the FDA in a Tweet sent thing morning (4-13-2021) at 7:01 AM,  "Today FDA and @CDCgov issued a statement regarding the Johnson & Johnson #COVID19 vaccine. We are recommending a pause in the use of this vaccine out of an abundance of caution."

The agencies they are investigating reports that six women experienced blood clots in conjunction with low platelet counts in the days following their Johnson & Johnson vaccine. More than 6.8 million doses of the J&J vaccine have already been administered since its initial release.

Federal distribution channels as well as mass-vaccination sites are going to be suspending the J&J vaccine while the investigation is underway. Government officials expect state-run clinics to follow suit.

On Wednesday the CDC's 'advisory committee' will meet to discuss the next steps at the same time the FDA has announced its investigation into the matter.
