BREAKING: A Central Maine Road Has Washed Away, Officials Say Will Be Closed For Weeks

According to a post from the Richmond Police Department, a section of one of the town's roads has all but washed away the pavement.

Police reported Friday morning that the Alexander Reed Road, the section that goes over the Abagadasset River, will be closed for several weeks. Pictures show that a culvert and fill have completely washed away leaving just a couple of inches of pavement suspended in the air.

Officials indicate that the Maine Department of Transportation has responded to the scene and that they are currently assessing the situation.
