Rescuers were called to the scene Sunday afternoon after reports of an ATV and a rider had broken through the ice and fallen into the water.

According to WGME 13, the incident happened Sunday afternoon in Raymond on Maine's second largest lake, Sebago.

Raymond Police and Fire Departments responded to Bridges Lane following the reports of the incident. Once they arrived they found one person who was wet standing near shore on the rocks. That individual was taken to the hospital for 'precautionary measures' according to WGME.

There is not yet word on how deep the water where the ATV went through the ice was or if the all-terrain vehicle had been successfully recovered.

With temps soaring above 50 last week and forecast to be above 60 at least one day this week, Maine officials are urging Mainers to be extra-vigilant when proceeding out onto the ice.

Just Friday we reported about two people that were rescued from the same lake after their UTV had gone through the ice. Below is a chart from MaineSportsman.com that provides some information on safe ice thickness.
