Over 7,000 people in Maine are suffering from Parkinsons Disease. Parkinson's is a disease that affects the central nervous system, mainly the motor system and over the years has become much more common. Shaking, slowness in movement, and rigidness are the early onset signs of the disease but it only gets worse from there. The cause of the disease at this time is unknown but is believed to either be genetic or environmental.

This is very personal for me because my grandfather suffered from Parkinsons. The Maine Parkinson's Society or, MEPS has the goal of making life easier for the thousands in Maine who live with the disease. If you would like to make a donation in honor of Parkinson's month, here is the link.
