For literal years now the real estate market in Maine, and all over the country, has been exploding with crazy home values and offers coming in way over the asking price. Finally, at least it seems, some of these prices and values are starting to cool off a little bit.

Are we ready to say that it has officially shifted from a sellers to a buyers market? Probably not just yet. Though we are starting to see things that indicate that things are beginning to shift, even if ever-so-slightly, into the buyer's favor.

Because I'm a nerd, I was once again perusing Central Maine real estate listings this morning seeing if anything surprising jumped out at me. Initially, there wasn't a whole lot that I hadn't already seen from last week's search- but then, alas, there was.

I happened to come across a four, yes four, bedroom home right here in Augusta that had an asking price of UNDER $200,000. Now, admittedly, it's not a TON under $200k, but it's still technically under.

Situated at 6 Crooker Street, this four bedroom home has a list price of $199,900. The home is listed by Better Homes & Gardens Masiello Group. It's nearly 1,500 square feet, sits on more than half an acre and was built in 1900. So, in addition to buying a really good-sized home, you're also purchasing a little piece of Augusta history.
