Water Street Dairy Queen: Building and Land For Sale

Where State and Water streets meet on the Hallowell/Augusta border, you will find a popular Dairy Queen where people go to buy delicious sweet treats in the summer and fall months. Call me shocked as I drove by this afternoon and saw this sign out front.

Due to my natural curiosity and nosiness, I called the number and was informed by the person who answered, who did not give his name, that due to the rising minimum wage, the land and building are in fact for sale.

A price for the business was not given, and it is not clear if the sale is being handled by a real estate agent or the owner.

It is always sad when a local business goes away, even worse when it's one that sells ice cream. Hopefully, someone can step in and buy the business and keep it open.
