According to the Lewiston Sun Journal, Portland's Old Port Festival will end after this year.

Portland Downtown Executive Director Casey Gilbert has announced the festival will end its run, after 46 years, in 2019.

Traditionally, the festival has kicked off with a puppet parade put on by the Shoestring Theater.  Following the parade, the area was filled with food vendors, artists, and live music.

According to Gilbert, even though the festival was labor intensive, the decision to end it was not a financial one.
