For nearly a century and a half, the Olde Federal Building has been the most recognizable part of downtown Augusta.  According to Wikipedia, the building was designed by Mifflin E. Bell.  Made of granite, the building spent many decades being used as the city's post office and as a courthouse.  More recently, it has been used as an office building.

Given the building's age, it should be no surprise that it was added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1974.

Now, assuming you have a fat enough bank account (or backers that do), you could own this piece of Maine history.

According to Loop.net and Colliers, the mixed use property is now for sale.  Currently, the building, which has about 41,000 square feet of usable space, is about 50% occupied.  It is home to a salon, yoga studio, nutritional supplement store, and more.  The office spaces are occupied by a mix of federal government agencies, local development agencies, and commercial businesses.

295 Water Street, Augusta, Maine

You'll find The Olde Federal Building at 295 Water Street in Augusta. The building which, for many years, was the town's post office and a courthouse, now fills a variety of uses. There are still some government offices in the building, but there are many commercial businesses, too. Right now, the building is about 50% occupied. It has about 41,000 square feet of usable space and you can learn more from the Colliers website.

A downloadable pamphlet about the property says, in part:

The building has 14 on-site parking spaces, is surrounded by on-street public parking along the river, and an adjacent municipal parking garage. It is currently fit-up as a multitenanted office building. The lower level consists of offices, a shared conference room, and a kitchenette. The first floor, entered from Water Street, is home to a mix of office and retail/service businesses. The second floor is made up of multiple small office tenants. The third floor has additional small offices and a yoga studio. Possibility to create access to the southern wing roof via the third floor could create an unmatched rooftop deck overlooking the Kennebec River, surrounding hillsides to the east, and Water Street to the west.

The current list price of the property is $2,650,000.  Get more details now from the Colliers website.
