The Iconic Olde Federal Building In Downtown Augusta Is For Sale

For nearly a century and a half, the Olde Federal Building has been the most recognizable part of downtown Augusta.  According to Wikipedia, the building was designed by Mifflin E. Bell.  Made of granite, the building spent many decades being used as the city's post office and as a courthouse.  More recently, it has been used as an office building.

Given the building's age, it should be no surprise that it was added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1974.

Now, assuming you have a fat enough bank account (or backers that do), you could own this piece of Maine history.

According to Loop.net and Colliers, the mixed use property is now for sale.  Currently, the building, which has about 41,000 square feet of usable space, is about 50% occupied.  It is home to a salon, yoga studio, nutritional supplement store, and more.  The office spaces are occupied by a mix of federal government agencies, local development agencies, and commercial businesses.
