Even though we are still in the middle of summer, a sure sign that fall, and all of the fall holidays, is on the way is the arrival of the Spirit Halloween stores.

For those who don't know, Spirit Halloween is a chain of pop-up stores that are open from September through October.  They sell everything you need for Halloween.  We mean EVERYTHING!

They have a huge selection of costumes...  Everything from stuff for your infant, to regular elementary child aged costumes, to those sexy costumes that don't leave much to the imagination.  And, they have all the accessories for your costume - makeup, fake blood, mustaches / beards, and more.

The store also carries lots of decorations.  They have everything from those basic Styrofoam hanging skeletons to really high tech motion (or touch pad) activated moving decorations.  Plus, they have smoke machines, foggers, and lights.

These stores really are one-stop shops for everything you need for your Halloween.

As they are pop up stores, they are often not always in the same spot.  They take over the most appropriate currently unoccupied space in a given town / city.  Over the last few years, they have located their Augusta stores at the old Turnpike Mall (near Christmas Tree Shop), at the Marketplace at Augusta, and (we're pretty sure) at the Shaws Plaza.

This year, they are taking over a massive space...  Like every K-Mart store across the country, Augusta's location of the former retail giant closed its doors for good at the end of 2019.  Since then, the space has basically remained empty.  It has hosted at least one church event and it appears to have been used for storage during the height of the pandemic.  Other than that, it has remained empty.  The space is very large, however, we do not know exactly how much of the space they will be using.

The sign just went up and it appears they are still deep in the process of putting the store together.

Once the store opens, they plan to be open seven days a week.  They'll be open 11 AM to 7 PM Monday through Saturday and they plan to be open from Noon to 6 PM.
