Some Central ME High Schools Ban Visiting Team BBall Spectators

Do you have a child that plays High School basketball in Maine? If so, you may not be able to watch them play in person when they have an away game. It all depends on which high school they'll be playing at.

According to the Kennebec Journal, the Maine high school basketball season begins on Friday evening and with it will come new spectator policies. The policies however are not uniform and will differ from school to school, with some schools now allowing any spectators from the visiting team at all.

According to the KJ, Winslow, Maranacook, Cony, Monmouth, Mt. Blue and Hall Dale are prohibiting all spectators from opposing teams this season.

Schools that will be limiting the capacity of visiting fans are Waterville, Erskine, Gardiner, Lawrence & Messalonskee.

Spectators at any of Maine's public high schools will still be required to wear a face covering when attending an indoor event.

If your child's school, or a school you plan on visiting, wasn't on this list, it's best to contact the school or superintendent's office directly to get guidance on their specific spectator policy for the upcoming season.
