According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, a couple from Skowhegan were arrested as a result of a Maine DEA investigation.

The press release says, in part:

Acting on information received from anonymous sources, agents assigned to MDEA’s South Central Task Force in Augusta, Maine, opened an investigation into a Skowhegan man and his girlfriend believed to be transporting illicit drugs from Haverhill, Massachusetts back into the state for redistribution within the Central Maine area. Investigators were able to identify a 2009 Ford Escape that the pair had left the state in. Working with investigators from Massachusetts, agents were able to confirm that this vehicle was spotted in Haverhill late Wednesday afternoon.

The couple is 42 year old Christopher Park and 36 year old Stacy Bowman. On Wednesday (January 5th, 2021), their vehicle was spotted heading north on I-95 in Gardiner.  As short time later, as the vehicle neared the Augusta area, it was stopped by the Maine State Police.

A K-9 unit was brought in to search the vehicle.  Inside the vehicle, officers found a significant amount of fentanyl and cocaine.  There was reported 330 grams of fentanyl and 85 grams of cocaine.  The drugs had an estimated street value of $60,000.  It is believed that Park and Bowman intended to distribute the drugs throughout Kennebec and Somerset Counties.

Following their arrest, the couple was taken to the Kennebec County Jail where they were charged with Class A, Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Fentanyl and Crack). Bail was set by a bail commissioner at $15,000 each.
