According to WABI TV 5, the crash happened late in the afternoon on Sunday, June 12th, 2022.

Reports indicate that the crash happened at around 4:30 in the afternoon on Sunday on Waltham Road in Waltham, Maine.

Police say that a motorcycle was travelling on Waltham Road when it entered a curve and subsequently lost control. The motorcycle apparently entered the lane of oncoming traffic and was struck by a pickup truck travelling the other way.

The crash did end up being fatal in nature as the passenger on the motorcycle, 50-year-old, Melissa Hatch, of Brewer, passed away as a result of the collision. WABI hadn't reported whether or not Hatch was pronounced dead at the scene or if she was initially transported for treatment.

WABI goes on to report that the driver of the oncoming pickup truck was not injured in the Sunday afternoon crash. Additionally, both the unnamed driver and Hatch were in fact both wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Waltham is an eastern Maine town that, geographically speaking, sits about halfway between Bangor and Bar Harbor. Waltham is located in Maine's Hancock county and at last check in the 2020 census only had a population of 332 people.
