According to WGME, the Maine Youth Wilderness Leadership Program give high school students a chance to backpack through the majesty of Baxter State Park.  Accompanied by an experienced guide, the students will spend 9 days hiking from one end of the park to the other.

In order to qualify, the students must currently be enrolled as a sophomore or a junior.

Ten students will be selected for the hike, which will take place in August.

The hike is being put on by The Friends of Baxter and is designed to cultivate a new generation of wilderness leaders.
