Kennebec Valley Humane Society Takes The 2020 Mutt Strut Virtual
According to a press release from the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, they are taking the 27th annual 2020 Mutt Strut virtual. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic and making sure we all stay healthy by social distancing, they had to change how this year's fundraiser would go.
The Annual Mutt Strut fundraiser goes to benefit local animals in need, whether it be for medical reasons or adoption. KVHS is open 365 days year and provides the animals with food, shelter, and even veterinarian care to roughly 2000 animals a year.
“Our goal is to raise money for those who cannot advocate for themselves – the animals in our care every day at KVHS” said Melanie Randall, the KVHS’s Community Engagement Coordinator. “In the past, we have loved gathering together and seeing all the four legged friends of KVHS. This year, due to COVID-19 we are unable to walk together, but we still want our animal loving families to share their journey on behalf of KVHS. We provide shelter, food, routine and emergency medical care for animals 365 days a year. Part of that care includes the love our staff and volunteers give these dogs and cats. We hope that KVHS alumni dogs participate so we can see their wagging tails again and celebrate how happy they are in their loving homes. We are hoping for many fun photos and videos of our beloved pups.”
Through mid-August, KVHS will be sending animal lovers from all around on a fun little scavenger hunt. Each week KVHS will assign a task to all of the participants; these can take place anywhere. The registration fee is 25 dollars, and if you want to donate without participating, you can do that too. You'll still need to register HERE.
Once you and your furry friend have completed the task, you are encouraged to take to social media and tag KVHS; you will then be eligible for the weekly prizes. It doesn't stop there; at the end of the six weeks, there will be a grand prize winner (and pup) that will be receiving a staycation to Augusta West Kampground in Winthrop.
I cant wait to see how many cute pups and their humans participate in this year's Mutt Strut scavenger hunt!
