Christmas isn't just for the 25th. Christmas starts on Water Street in Augusta on Saturday, November 30th with the Augusta Downtown Alliance and the City of Augusta Childcare presenting A Riverfront Holiday Celebration & Tree Lighting.

The event starts at 11 with the River of Trees taking place at The Colonial Theater. Make your way through the historic theater and view the dozens of trees decorated by area businesses. Each tree will have a theme and gifts worth hundreds that you could win by purchasing a raffle ticket. All the proceeds go to benefit the Augusta Downtown Alliance, The Colonial Theater, and the Kennebec Valley Humane Society. Get ticket info and details here.

Next, you can participate in holiday crafts with the kids and write a letter to Santa. Go on a hay wagon ride before meeting the big guy in red at Hartford Fire Station.

There will be live entertainment starting at 4 pm and it all culminates with the 5 o'clock tree lighting followed by a fireworks show.
