As if we needed more proof that everyone is anxious for this to all be over, Carnival Cruise Lines have seen a 600% increase in bookings since they announced they would begin resuming operations on August 1st.

According to WMTW, on May 4th, the company announced eight ships would leave from Port Canaveral and Galveston.  The one caveat to this is that it is contingent on CDC guidance.  There is a chance that, if another spike in cases occurs, these plans could be delayed.

Other lines have indicated that they may begin to sail earlier than that, but the current CDC no sail order is in effect through the last week of July.

After checking the Carnival website, the really good news is that the rates have not jumped the way some people had predicted.  You can get a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas for less than $150 per person.  Or, you can take a 7 day cruise to the Caribbean for less than $450 per person.  Yes, these rates are for interior cabins, but how much time do you really intend to spend in your cabin?
