According to the Kennebec Journal, a 20-year-old Augusta, Maine man was taken into custody in Skowhegan Friday by Maine State Police on charges that he allegedly assaulted his 3-month-old son.

Skowhegan Detective, Sgt. Kelly Hooper, obtained a warrant for 20-year-old, Dakota Colson, following an incident that occurred on March 11th where Colson's 3-month-old son was taken to Maine General Medical Center in Augusta for 'unknown reasons'.

The KJ says that after an evaluation by medical staff, it was determined the child's severe injuries were concurrent with an apparent assault. The child's injuries were so severe that he was transferred to the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Prior to this most recent arrest, Colson was arrested for aggravated assault, for which he was out on bail when State Police took him back into custody for these latest charges on Friday. Though he was currently in the Skowhegan area, Colson had been living in Augusta with his girlfriend at the time of the alleged assault, the KJ says.

Colson's bail for this charge has been set at $50,000 and the records and details of the case and arrest have been sealed by a judge, due to the age of the victim and severity of his injuries, according to the Kennebec Journal.
