9 Fun & Cheap Activities To Keep Your Family Busy This Summer

Summer is here and that means it's time for the special kids in your life to always be bored no matter what is going on in their world. Oh wait, maybe I'm just thinking about my kids and how they are always bored no matter what we're up to.

If your kids are like mine and always bored, or maybe you're just trying to keep their faces away from electronics, either way, I put together a list of 10 Fun & Cheap Activities To Keep Your Family Busy This Summer.

1. Stargazing - Don't worry you don't need to go out and purchase a stargazing telescope. Nope, all you need to do is wait for a clear night, lay down a blanket, and stare up at the stars. See how many constellations each person can spot.
2. Water Paint Squirt Gun Fight - This fun activity will surely make a mess. It will also make a ton of memories and if each person wears a white t-shirt they will have a fun souvenir of memories that they can wear. If you'd like this activity to be a little less messy, you can also you a canvas as your paint target.
3. Make a Kite & Fly it - You will need a few items for this project but most items will be found at home. Newspaper, Sticks, String or yarn, and maybe a little tape.
4. Water Balloon Fight - Water balloon fights are probably one of the cheapest and best ways to keep the whole family cool on a hot summer day. Water balloons are only a buck or two for a package of 100. Fill them up, split the balloons up evenly and then make up different games as a family.
5. Scavenger Hunt - Scavenger Hunts can be super simple or super in-depth, that's the best thing about them. You can make the scavenger hunt indoors on a rainy summer day or you can head for the great outdoors. It's up to you!
6. Water Obstacle Course - Make an obstacle course out of all things water-related. Water balloons, slip n' slide, water gun fight, a garden hose sprinkler, anything you can think of. As long as there is water involved it's sure to be a hit.
7. Homemade IceCream/Popsicles- Young or Old this Summer fun is for everyone. There is no age limit on loving a nice refreshing treat, so get the whole family in on making delicious homemade ice cream or popsicles.
8. Campout In The Backyard - You don't need to spend a ton of money on extra supplies, or pack up the whole house, the kids, and the dogs for a weekend of fun adventures. Save the money and camp out in your backyard. All you need is a tent and some chairs and that's it. Anything you will need to cook or entertain will be just a few feet away.
9. DIY slip and slide - If you have a slip and slide, great. If you don't, no worries. You can actually make your own slip and slide using a roll of plastic sheeting or a big tarp, tear-free shampoo, and a garden hose. I only recommend the tear-free shampoo because soap makes the slip and slide work better but who really wants dish soap stinging their eyes while they're trying to have fun.
