It has been a very deadly year for motorcycle riders here in the Pine Tree State. So deadly, in fact, that Maine is on track to set a record for motorcycle-related fatalities in 2022.

According to the Kennebec Journal, there is sadly now another name to add to the growing list of riders killed in 2022.

The KJ is reporting that a crash between a motorcycle and Subaru Forester turned deadly on Saturday night when the two collided about a mile away from the intersection of Tuttle and Hill roads in the town of Canaan, Maine.

Police say that a 2010 Subaru Forester, drive by 24-year-old Keiana Paradis of Norridgewock, collided with a motorcycle near the intersection. The motorcycle rider, 34-year-old Nicholas Davis, died at the scene of the crash.

Police say that Davis was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Paradis, who was driving with her 2-year-old son, was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Though they were reportedly uninjured, Paradis and her daughter were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The Kennebec Journal is reporting that as of Sunday afternoon, the cause of the crash, which happened around 6:30 Saturday evening, had still not been determined and that officials were still investigating what led to the fatal collision.

Following the crash, the road was closed for multiple hours while investigators worked the scene.
