22 Year Old Oakland Man Hit by Car, Taken by LifeFlight
A 22 year old Oakland man was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to load a snowmobile onto a trailer on Fairfield Road.
According to the KJ authorities are not releasing the name of the man but say he was originally transported to Inland Hospital and then LifeFlighted to Central Maine Medical Center. Authorities said that the man was attempting to drive his Arctic Cat up onto a trailer parked on the side of the road and misjudged it. This led to the snowmobile going partially up the trailer and then falling over the side, directly into the path of an oncoming car. Witnesses on the scene say he was "operating the snowmobile at a higher rate of speed than he should have been for loading it onto a trailer".
The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe that struck the man was said to be driving in the appropriate lane and did not cross the center line at the time of the accident. No charges are expected to be brought against the driver. There was minor damage done to the Tahoe during the incident.
