I'm glad I'm not a teen anymore because I don't want anyone telling me when I have to go to bed. Actually, come to think of it, I go to bed earlier now than I did when I was a teen anyway!

A study done by the University of Rochester has determined that maintaining a normal bedtime even through the teenage years can be beneficial, not only to their health, but their education. This is primarily between the ages of 14-17. The study also found that teens' use of screen time and caffeine intake did not significantly impact their sleep duration. Wait, what? If I have a cup of coffee past noontime I'll be up for 6 days! Is this new generation being born completely immune to the beautiful side effects of caffeine?!

Sorry, I digress. Anyway, if you're the mom or dad of a teenager who struggles with school and being frequently tired, consider enforcing a normal bedtime to allow them at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night and you just might see a change. And who knows, maybe they'll thank you later in life- but probably not.
