Up for a little winter adventure for your New Year?  If yes, then hop into the car and in just under 4 hours you can be standing in an Ice Castle in Lincoln N.H..  Icy cold conditions have helped workers to create the massive structures made entirely from ice.

Officials said in cold weather, workers can create up to 10,000 icicles a day to add to the structure.

And this is no quick stroll. Visitors can explore tunnels and slides, a waterfall and turrets which can reach up to 40 feet in height. Oh but don’t leave before dark. At night, the castles are internally lit with colorful, changing light, making it a truly magical experience on a starry night.

The organizers give a little advice before you head out, if bringing small children they should consider towing them in a small sled rather than a stroller. It will be a lot easier inside the castles snowy floor.  Be sure to wear warm boots. Visiting weekdays is less expensive than visiting Friday through Sunday.

The exhibit is open weekdays except Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Children age 4 to 11 pay $8.95 and general admission for those 12 and older is $12.95. On Fridays and weekends, the cost goes to $12.95 for children and $15.95 for general admission. The Ice Castles will be closed Tuesdays except during Massachusetts and New Hampshire school break weeks. Click here for directions.
