One of the most affordable activities you can do as a family is driving around to check out the local Christmas lights displays.

But, where are the BEST light displays in Central and Mid-Coast Maine?  Because we value your opinion, we reached out to you to help us in answering the question.  In no particular order, here's what you came up with...

-Augusta Orthodonics (AKA Dr. Zee's Office) - You can find this gem at 132 State Street in Augusta.  He and his family have been doing this for years and the displays get better and better every year.  He has a small FM station set up so you can listen to the music from the warmth of your car.  The lights run every night from 5 to 9 through New Years' Eve.

-Mount Vernon Ave in Augusta - The residents of this old school apartment building do it up bigtime every Holiday season.  The porches of all three floors are lit!  If you are heading from downtown Augusta toward the Civic Center, you'll see it on your right hand side.

-Small Road in Litchfield - Great light display with a small FM transmitter on 88.7 FM.  Tune it in so you can listen to the music while watching the display.

-China Road Christmas Park - Everybody on Facebook raves about this place.  They're open Thursday through Sunday evenings.  Get more details at their Facebook page

-Somerset Lights - Find them on the corner of Greeley Street and Somerset Ave in Pittsfield.  Check out their Facebook page

-Hathaway Holiday Lights - If you are willing to take a drive, you can find this display at 21 Hillview Drive in Bangor.

-Manchester - Kaleb checked in to let us know there are a bunch of great Christmas lights displays in the town of Manchester.

-Gardens Aglow - While there is a significant cost (for larger families) to this Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens attraction, it is worth every penny.  If you want to avoid the massive crowds that visit on a good night, get there early.  Get more details at their website.

-West Side Rotary in Augusta - The city staff did a great job with the lights in the center of the rotaries.

I love how serious people get about their Christmas lights!  As you can see from above, some people even go as far as setting up Facebook event pages for their displays.
