Two women were transported from a camp in Rome, Maine to Maine General's Alfond Center for Health in Augusta on Friday night following a snowmobile crash.

According to the Kennebec Journal, 48-year-old Amy Madden of Rome, was operating a 2016 Ski-Doo Expedition along with a friend of hers, 56-year-old Monica McCarthy of Belgrade. The pair were operating the machine off of Long Pond in Rome.

As the two were climbing up a steep embankment, Madden wasn't able to avoid a camp and instead struck a support pillar which cause the sled to roll over.

Spokesman for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, Mark Latti, told the Kennebec Journal,

“Both Madden and McCarthy were transported to Maine General Hospital. Madden suffered injuries to her ribs and chest and McCarthy had injuries to her chest and arm. Both stayed overnight at Maine General and McCarthy was discharged this morning [Saturday morning]. The Maine Warden Service was assisted at the scene by the Rome Fire Department, Belgrade Fire Department and Delta Ambulance.”
