Maine election officials are deciding how to use up to $3.3 million in federal funds to help increase election security. US News reports this is  Maine's share of the $380 million 2018 Help America Vote Act Election Security Grant Program.

Gas prices are up in Maine. USNews found that the average retail gasoline prices in the state have risen 4 cents in the past week, to an average of $2.69 per gallon. GasBuddy says the national average gas price has risen 5.2 cents in the past week to $2.71. The national average has increased 17.7 cents per gallon in the last month and stands 30.1 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

Donny Christen has spent Patriot's Day hosting a smoke-in for the legalization of marijuana on the steps of the Somerset County Courthouse in Skowhegan. He has been doing it since 1991.  WABI reported he is not in great heath and this could be his last year. His friends will keep the tradition going until marijuana is fully legalized.

Gov LePage is saying he will veto the recreation marijuana use bill. Centralmaine.com reports his objection is over two regulatory and tax systems for medical and recreational use.
