The Gardiner Rite Aid pharmacy on was robbed today (Feb. 18) and police are looking for the male suspect.

Last week 30 Gardiner residents were displaced due to a fire in a 28-unit apartment on Highland Avenue. Efforts are now underway by the community to help the tenants who lived in the senior housing complex.

UPDATE: Michael J. Booth, a 14-year-old freshman at Gardiner Area High School was last seen by his parents late Saturday (Oct. 18) night. He has now been found safe. According to the Gardiner Police Department, h He was found Tuesday (Oct. 21) morning at a home in Gardiner. Police found him while following up on a tip.

Gardiner has been very active and creative in attracting new business to their downtown. As a result, Frosty's Donuts is coming to town! The program is called the Gardiner Growth Initiative. It is made up of Gardiner Main Street, The Bank of Maine, the Gardiner Board of Trade and the city of Gardiner.

Leroy Smith III of Gardiner made his first court appearance (May 8) today. He's accused of killing his father, 56-year-old Leroy Smith II at their Gardiner home on Cannard Street. His father’s remains were found Monday (May 5) in numerous trash bags left in a wooded area off Lincoln Street in Richmond, about eight miles from their apartment.

I always love hearing about a great idea going that on and this is another perfect example of that, Healthy Maine Streets!  The Healthy Maine Streets idea is building on the Maine Downtown Center’s efforts for revitalization downtowns can in turn help to revitalize the heath of those in those down-towns, especially employees in downtown businesses. Sean Kingston, 38 of Wiscasset has been arrested in connection with the shooting of his girlfriend in Gardiner over the weekend. According to Gardiner Police, he is accused of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. On Saturday night officers went to a Costello Road residence after a shooting was reported...

Two people were hurt and brought to area hospitals this afternoon (March 28) after an incident in Gardiner, ME. According to WMTW, two people were stabbed outside the Hannaford supermarket off of Bridge Street shortly before 3:30 p.m.

Gardiner has no hotels, motels, or B&B's. Even when I used to live there, I thought that was odd. Now, Gardiner is taking a different approach to try and attract a Bed & Breakfast to the city. There is a reward!

Downtown Gardiner is seeing the benefits of their downtown holiday program.  This past holiday season, Gardiner and building landlords allowed pop up businesses to set up shop rent-free. Three businesses took advantage and one is now staying.

Augusta and Gardiner will each open for three hours to issue marriage licenses Saturday, December 29. They are not normally open on weekends, but this is a special case. December 29 is the first day same-sex couples in Maine can get married.

When Sargent Isaiah "Ike" Peppard submitted the Gardiner Police for the honor of presenting the colors at Fenway Park, he certainly hoped but never expected to be chosen. But then he got the call from the Red Sox organization and he let Chief James Toman know that on Friday, September 7th, Gardiner would be doing the honors before the Sox/Jays game.
