According to WGME, a small earthquake shook up Kennebec County on Saturday afternoon.

The quake, which was centered near the Town of China, happened at about 12:16 PM on Saturday.

The quake registered at about 2.0 on the Richter Scale.  It does not appear the quake caused any injuries or damage.

Normally, we don't think of Maine has being a very seismically active place, especially when compared to California or Alaska, but the Pine Tree State Does get the occasional quake.

According to researchers, the largest earthquake to ever happen in Maine occurred near Eastport on March 21st, 1904.  It measured 5.9 magnitude in the Richter Scale.
