It's no surprise that Americans don't like politicians, Congress in particular. In fact, a recent survey showed the governmental body is less popular than even cockroaches and colonoscopies. Even still, more Americans would rather hang out with their local congresscritter than a member of the Kardashian family.

Public Policy Polling found that only 9 percent of Americans view Congress in a favorable light versus the 85 percent of us who don't and the 6 percent who were all, "I like socks."

But in its usual style, PPP took things a step further to find out just how disliked Congress is by comparing it to other things society hates.

Here are some things more popular than Congress: root canals, used car salesmen, colonoscopies, traffic jams and brussel sprouts. Even Nickelback and Donald Trump fared better (but it was close).

What do people disdain even more than that particular arm of government? Telemarketers, meth labs, and gonorrhea. Oh, and the Kardashians and Lindsay Lohan, too.

In a statement, PPP President Dean Debnam said that while he knew Congress was unpopular, "the fact that voters like it even less than cockroaches, lice, and Genghis Khan really shows how far its esteem has fallen with the American public over the last few weeks."

The Raleigh, N.C.-based polling firm interviewed 830 households to get its hilarious results. You can see the whole list in this handy dandy (and incredibly amusing) PDF.

But if you take one thing away from this survey, let it be this: Congress and cockroaches are more popular than the Kardashians and Lindsay Lohan, all of whom are less popular than Nickelback.

And that's today's mind-blowing moment. You're welcome.
