One Shot, Two Arrested on Gun & Drug Charges in Randolph, Maine

According to WABI TV 5, multiple residents of the small Central Maine town of Randolph are in custody following an altercation that involved drugs and gunfire.

Early Saturday morning, reports came into the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office that a subject had been shot in the area of Belmont Avenue, WABI reports.

Officials responded to the scene and transported a 42-year-old male to the hospital with what are being called non-life-threatening injuries.

Police then obtained and executed a search warrant at the property the shooting happened at. Following the search, police took multiple suspects into custody on drug and firearm charges.

According to WGME 13, police found several grams each of fentanyl and cocaine. Additionally they located firearms and money inside the residence at 14 Belmont Avenue.

35-year-old Eric Cooper was arrested and charged on multiple counts of aggravated unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, violation of conditions of release, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, WGME reports.

Following his arrest, Cooper's bail was set at $30,000 cash. Also, Cooper is not allowed any contact with the other suspect, Meredith Prugh, WGME says.

40-year-old Meredith Prugh, who is reportedly also lives at the Belmont residence, was summonsed for aggravated unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, violation of conditions of release, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, WGME reported.

Police said that they do believe the initial shooting that triggered the 911 response was accidental and that there is no threat to public safety in the area.
