Mainers Bought Over $10 Million Worth of Pot In August

Since the legalization of recreational marijuana in Maine, the state has seen a steadily average increase in overall sales and tax revenue month over month. However, the biggest month the state has ever seen in legal pot sales was August of 2021.

According to WABI TV 5, the information comes from the Maine Office of Marijuana Policy. It indicated that in the month of August (2021) alone there were approximately 134,000 transactions for marijuana totaling $10,220,445. Yes, that's just for one month.

To give you an idea of how much growth that is, in June (2021) the state saw a little under $6,500,000 in marijuana sales. Residents who may be wondering what kind of tax revenue all these sales are generating for the state will be thrilled to know that from the $10.22 million that was sold in August, an estimated $1,022,175 was collected in taxes by the state of Maine.

Between June and August marijuana sales totaled $26.1 million in the three-month span. Shockingly, snack food remained static. Actually, I don't have the snack food data.. it was just a joke.
