Put this in the things I learned today, the trail-head of the Kennebec River Rail Trail, under Memorial Bridge in Augusta, was no intended to be the trail-head.  It was supposed to be in Waterfront Park.

Getting the trail the extra distance of about a quarter of a mile was some big bucks because it involved a steep hill and addressing that was going to going to cost some big bucks.

They did.

According to Centralmaine.com at noon today (May 30, 2018) there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the spot that was planned to be the trail head when the Kennebec River Rail Trail opened years ago.
