NBA Hall of Famer Larry Bird teamed up with Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg in a new ad campaign promoting the Chime banking app.

The collaboration carries extra meaning for the Maine-born Flagg, who grew up a Boston Celtics fan and has said Bird was his favorite NBA player, even though the Hall of Famer retired 14 years before he was born.

It wouldn’t be a commercial featuring ‘Larry Legend’ without a little legendary trash talk.

In the ad, the 12-time All-Star and three-time NBA champion tells Flagg that his titles came “back when the league was legit,” and when a customer brags that their credit score on the Chime app jumped 70 points, Flagg jokingly asks Bird if he could score 70 in a game, prompting Bird to fire back, “Not if I’m guarding you.”

Flagg also got in a joke of his own at Bird’s expense during the commercial.

When the Celtics legend asked if one of the benefits of the Chime app was real, Flagg held up an old photo of Bird’s iconic haircut and replied, “As real as your mullet in ’86.”
