During today's (June 16th) Maine Centers For Disease Control press conference, Governor Janet Mills announced that the state will be doing a vaccination lottery.

It is being called the "Don't Miss Your Shot Vaccinationland Sweepstakes"

For each person who gets at least their first vaccination shot by June 30th, they'll have a chance to win cash.

The jackpot is based off of the number of Mainers who have had at least their first by July 4th.  For each person who has been vaccinated, a dollar will be added to the jackpot.  The more people who get vaccinated, the bigger the jackpot gets!

Currently, the jackpot is just over $876,000.  However, in the next two weeks, that is expected to rise significantly.

Mills did note that the money for the jackpot was coming from federal funds, not from Maine taxpayers.

The winner will be drawn and announced on July 4th.

The sweepstakes is open to Mainers aged 12+.

What is your opinion?  Do you think the program will entice people to get the COVID-19 vaccine?  Or, do you think those who really want it have already gotten it?
