According to The Washington Post, 100 million Americans and at least 6 million Canadians have been affected by the latest financial data breach.

The FBI has arrested a Seattle-area woman named Paige A. Thompson.  She's been charged with computer fraud and abuse for alleged hacking that took place between March and July of this year.  The hack accessed credit card applications, which gave the hacker access to hundreds of social security numbers and bank account numbers.  Capital One credit card numbers and login credentials do not appear to have been affected.

The Virginia-based company was made aware of the situation when, on July 17, someone made reference to having a large amount of sensitive Capital One information in a chat group.
