Augusta Giving City Employees A Pandemic Bonus
City of Augusta workers who stepped up to keep things running during the height of the pandemic will be getting a bonus.
According to the KJ, city officials plan to use $163,000 of the approximately $1 million the municipality got from the American Rescue Plan Act.
According to the newspaper article, eligible full time workers will get a one time $500 check. Part time workers will get a one time $250 check.
Those working non-clerical public safety workers, like police officers and firefighters, will get a slightly bigger bonus. Full timers in those departments will get $1,000. Part timers will get a one time check of $500.
Those who are ineligible for the bonuses will still get an extra day off.
Other nearby towns and cities have handed out similar bonuses. Waterville and Gardiner, for example.
