City of Augusta workers who stepped up to keep things running during the height of the pandemic will be getting a bonus.

According to the KJ, city officials plan to use $163,000 of the approximately $1 million the municipality got from the American Rescue Plan Act.

According to the newspaper article, eligible full time workers will get a one time $500 check.  Part time workers will get a one time $250 check.

Those working non-clerical public safety workers, like police officers and firefighters, will get a slightly bigger bonus.  Full timers in those departments will get $1,000.  Part timers will get a one time check of $500.

Those who are ineligible for the bonuses will still get an extra day off.

Other nearby towns and cities have handed out similar bonuses.  Waterville and Gardiner, for example.
