A former Hallowell, Maine police officer has been killed in a motor vehicle crash.

According to WMTW, former Hallowell Police Department officer Lara Sarett was killed in a crash over the weekend in Oklahoma.

According to law enforcement, the crash happened about 3 miles north of the town of Tahlequah, Oklahoma.   Involved in the crash was a Jeep driven by 22 year old Thomas Baty

Alessa Gilbert and former Hallowell officer Lara Sarett were passengers in the jeep.

All three were taken to the hospital.  Gilbert was treated and released and Baty remains hospitalized with injuries to his head and torso.  Sadly, Sarett succumbed to her injuries.

Sarett had spent a year as a police officer before moving to Oklahoma to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer.
