Do you forget about National Junk Food Day?  So did we. Not that we didn't dive into a box of Rings Dings anyway.

Junk food.  It's a craving that we all fight and then more than likely cave into at some point during our day.  Maybe it's that frosted cinnamon roll that you have with your coffee, or that Entenmann's creme-filled chocolate cupcake that calls you by name while watching TV at night.

Yesterday was National Junk Food Day, and after somewhat extensive research which included staring into a computer, the folks at Zippia.com informed us what every state's favorite junk food is. Here's how they came up with their results..

"Using Google Trends, we determined which states were the most avid fans of each snack. We examined 45 different favorite snacks, given us a wide range of beloved foods. We, being sane reasonable humans, excluded gum and sodas from our pretend vending machine snack roulette. Hopefully, you don’t swallow gum. Plus, liquid isn’t a snack- it’s a liquid. We then selected a range of popular chips, cookies, candies, and a few other vending machine favorites."

So, are you sitting down?  Maine's favorite junk food is....Ritz Crackers!

We love us some Ritz Crackers, there is absolutely no doubt about that.  Cover 'em with cream cheese or peanut butter and we'll eat the hell out of them.  Give us more and more of that salty goodness!

But, what's missing from a Ritz Cracker?  Yes, you guessed it.  An extensive amount of sugar.  To us, any junk food needs to be loaded with it!

Sour Patch Kids, M&Ms, and Starburst are forever turning out to be Maine's favorite Halloween candies.  Where are those on the map?  At least our neighbor New Hampshire made us proud.
