Troy Bennett at the Bangor Daily News tells the story of "Cassie" the sea monster, who supposedly lives in Casco Bay.

...Really?

Yeah, it's a big fish story, but there are details to this old story that don't often get told.

The "Casco Bay Monster" is a local legend, passed down from one generation of fishermen to the next. One sunny, hazy day, a couple of fisherman SWEAR that they saw it! At first, they thought it was a submarine... then they could see... IT WAS ALIVE!

Described as a "brownish creature with a long neck," any trace of the monster, as you can imagine, has long eluded us.

Doesn't this just seem like the kind of story you would overhear at Becky's diner?
