Graphic photos released by police show at least one vehicle nearly completely mangled and resting on its roof on a Maine road.

According to WGME 13, a 71-year-old woman is dead following a crash that happened Wednesday afternoon on Brighton Avenue in Portland, Maine.

Police say the crash involved at least four different vehicles. Reports indicate that the elderly woman was driving on Brighton Avenue before she crashed into a tree and then several other vehicles.

While the investigation was ongoing, WGME reported that part of Brighton Avenue was closed near Capisic Street and Wayside Street. Those streets are now reopened.

It hasn't been disclosed as of yet whether or not the vehicle pictured on its roof was that of the elderly driver. Additionally, no names have been released in the crash, including that of the single victim.

Police are currently looking for people who may have witnessed the crash and are asking those people to contact the authorities at either 207-874-8532 or 207-874-8575.
