According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, a Fairfield man is in custody after being arrested for multiple drug offenses, including aggravated drug trafficking.

The release goes on to explain that the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency had been conducting an investigation into the sale of these drugs for about the last month. As a result of that investigation, officials executed a search warrant earlier today (Thursday, September 22nd) and found large amounts of drugs and tens of thousands in cash.

Officials say that after the search warrant was executed, they were able to seize 280 grams of fentanyl, 225 grams of cocaine and more than $43,000 in cash which is suspected to be drug sale proceeds. Officials say in addition to the cash, the suspected street value of the drugs that were seized is around $65,000.

Drug enforcement officials also said they seized a Mercedes Benz and a Chevrolet pickup truck in addition to the drugs and cash.

Arrested in the drug bust was 35-year-old, Justin Lacroix of Fairfield. Lacroix was immediately taken to the Somerset County Jail and booked on charges of aggravated trafficking of schedule W drugs.

Maine Department of Public Safety went on to say that the Maine DEA was also supported by the Maine State Police Tactical Team, Maine Probation and Parole, and the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office.

As the result of a month-long investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s South Central Task Force, a Fairfield man has been arrested and charged with aggravated drug trafficking offenses following the discovery of a significant amount of drugs and cash inside his Fairfield home.

On Thursday morning September 22, 2022, agents assigned to MDEA’s South Central Task Force executed a search warrant on a Hardwood Lane home in the town of Fairfield. The search warrant came following a one-month investigation into the sale of drugs from this home. During the search of the home, agents located approximately 280 grams of fentanyl and 225 grams of cocaine, along with $43,000 in suspected drug proceeds. Also seized were a Mercedes Benz automobile and a Chevrolet pick-up truck. The street value of the drugs seized is approximately $65,000.

Arrested as the result of this investigation was 35-year-old Justin LACROIX of Fairfield. Following his arrest, Lacroix was transported to the Somerset County Jail where he will be charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (fentanyl and cocaine). The charges are aggravated due to the amount of the drugs that were seized.

Assisting the MDEA during this investigation was the Maine State Police Tactical Team, Maine Probation and Parole and the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
